I’ve been hearing from some USC players out of the blue regarding the football imposter.
But I’ve asked some other questions while I spoke to them. One was the increased energy level/physicality of practice that Clay Helton and Todd Orlando have mentioned.
“We start practices with the Oklahoma drill to get everyone fired up and intense and send a physical message,” a player said.
How long does that last after the drill, I asked?
“About three minutes,” the player said.
And what do they think of Orlando, who is in Year 2 as defensive coordinator?
“What you see is what you get,” another player said. “He’s a little weird but we’re used to him now. He’s kind of just a typical football coach.”
Agreed....but...."Typical football coach" is what we need to balance out the presence of Clay Helton...
