USC has had some COVID-19 issues during training camp. Drake Jackson, Kobe Pepe, Chris Steele and Jamar Sekona have all missed practices and been held out for COVID protocols.
So I asked an assistant coach why he thought there were issues during camp when USC has done a pretty good job on COVID-19 since last year?
“There could be a lot of reasons but you know two of the guys whose job it was to keep the weightroom and equipment germ-free got fired in the offseason by (Clay Helton),” the coach said. “Those guys were experienced in dealing with the virus all last summer and fall and did a great job. And got fired.
“Is that related to this? I don’t know but it didn’t sense to fire people who knew what they were doing.”
Fired? It's their own fault. Helton warned them never to look him directly in the eye when he spoke to them....
