Welcome to the Friday USC notes column supplement. From 1964-69, USC had a Shaw in the defensive backfield. Nate Shaw was an All-American defensive halfback who played from 1964-66. He was a consensus All-American in 1966. He was drafted by the L.A. Rams in the fifth round and played for two seasons. Shaw was also an assistant coach at USC from 1980-86. His nephew is Stanford coach David Shaw.
